PSIP

Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP) is a powerful form of trauma therapy that can foster healing at very deep levels of our being. Because PSIP involves such deep trauma work, it is important to be well informed and prepared. Please read all of the information below before deciding if PSIP is a therapy that you want to pursue.

Cannabis is the most commonly used medicine with PSIP, but ketamine can also be used, and PSIP can also be done without any medicine at all. PSIP is an ongoing therapy that typically involves multiple sessions that successively deepen the work.The initial phases of therapy - establishing trust, understanding the process, and building up your resources - are done online and without medicine. Medicine sessions generally occur in person (in Campbell River, BC).

#2 - Because PSIP can bring up some of our deepest trauma, it is important to have good self-regulation skills, social resources and self-care practices. Take some time to reflect on how well you can calm yourself down when you are upset, who you can reach out to when you need support, and how consistent you are with your self-care. Is there any need or opportunity for strengthening these skills, resources and/or practices before starting deep trauma work?
